Hot Tub & Spa Wiring in Katy, TX
Dedicated GFCI circuits, weatherproof disconnects and bonding for hot tubs, swim spas and saunas — done to code.
A hot tub is water and electricity sharing a very small space, so the wiring has to be exactly right. We install the dedicated circuit, GFCI protection, disconnect and bonding that NEC Article 680 requires — and that your spa manufacturer’s warranty depends on.
Whether you are putting in a new spa, replacing one, or moving one to a different corner of the patio, we handle the electrical side and coordinate delivery day with the spa dealer. We do not work on in-ground pool systems; for hot tubs, swim spas and saunas, we are the call.
What's included
- Dedicated 240V, 50A or 60A GFCI spa circuits
- Weatherproof disconnects within sight of the spa
- Equipotential bonding of the spa and nearby metal
- Swim spa and plug-and-play (120V) hot tub circuits
- Sauna and steam shower wiring
- Repairs on existing hot tub electrical
What to expect
Right-sized for your spa
We wire to the manufacturer’s spec sheet — amperage, wire gauge and GFCI type — so the heater and pumps run as designed and the warranty stays intact.
Disconnect where code wants it
The disconnect goes at least 5 feet from the water and within sight of the tub, in a weatherproof enclosure.
Ready on delivery day
We schedule the rough-in before the spa arrives and the final hookup the same day it is set, so you are soaking that evening.
How the job goes
- Consultation. We start with a thorough look at your home’s electrical needs. You tell us what you want to accomplish; we map the path to get there and flag anything we see along the way.
- Planning. A written scope of work with a firm price. No surprises. We design a solution that fits your home and your budget, and explain the options when there is more than one.
- Execution. Our licensed electricians complete the work with care. Clean uniforms, clean workspaces, clean results — and someone who will explain what they are doing if you ask.
- Certification. Every project ends with a full test, the inspection where one is required, and documentation. Your electrical system, verified and ready for the future.
Questions we hear about hot tub & spa
Do I need a dedicated circuit for a hot tub?
Yes. Most 240V spas need a dedicated 50- or 60-amp GFCI circuit; plug-and-play 120V tubs need a dedicated 20-amp GFCI outlet. Either way it cannot share with anything else.
How far does the disconnect have to be from the hot tub?
At least 5 feet away and within sight of the spa. We install a weatherproof GFCI disconnect that meets the rule.
Why does my hot tub keep tripping the GFCI?
Moisture in the heater element, a failing pump or ozonator, or a worn breaker are the usual causes. We test the circuit and the components to tell you which.
Do you work on swimming pools?
No. We wire hot tubs, swim spas and saunas, but we do not work on in-ground pool pumps, lighting or equipment. We are happy to point you to a pool electrician.
