Questions we hear every week
Straight answers about how we work and what common jobs involve. Don't see yours? Call — a real person answers during business hours.
Scheduling & pricing
How quickly can you come out?
We respond to every request within one business day and usually schedule within the week. If an outlet is hot, you smell burning, or you have lost power to part of the house, say so when you call and we will prioritize it.
Do you offer free estimates?
Estimates for installations and upgrades — panels, EV chargers, generators, lighting projects, rewires — are free. Troubleshooting and repair calls carry a flat diagnostic fee that is applied toward the repair.
How do you price your work?
Flat-rate, by the job. You see the price before we start and it does not change unless you change the scope.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. We are closed weekends so our electricians can be with their families — the same thing we would want for yours.
Do you offer financing?
Ask us. For larger projects like panel upgrades and standby generators we can point you to options.
Licensing, permits & safety
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Capital Care Electric is a licensed Texas electrical contractor, our electricians hold state licenses, and we carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Our license number is in the footer of every page.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, whenever the work requires one — panel changes, new circuits, EV chargers, generators, rewires and hot tub wiring. We work with the City of Katy, Harris County and Fort Bend County and schedule the inspection for you.
Is your work warrantied?
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship. Ask for the written warranty terms with your scope of work.
What should I do if I smell burning or see sparks?
Turn off the breaker for that circuit if you can do so safely, keep the area clear, and call us. If there is smoke or flame, leave the house and call 911 first.
Common projects
How do I know if my panel needs upgrading?
Breakers tripping under normal use, lights dimming when the A/C kicks on, no open slots, a panel over 25 years old, or plans to add a charger, hot tub or large appliance. We run a load calculation to answer it for sure.
Can my panel handle an EV charger?
Often yes. A Level 2 charger needs a 40- to 60-amp circuit. The load calculation tells us, and a load-management device is sometimes the alternative to an upgrade.
What is the least expensive backup power option?
A manual interlock kit and exterior inlet for a portable generator. It uses your existing panel and lets you choose which circuits to run.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Our focus is residential. We take on light commercial work for existing residential customers on a case-by-case basis.
