Generators & Backup Power in Katy, TX
From a portable generator interlock to an automatic whole-home standby — backup power sized to your budget.
When the power goes out, your home should not go dark. Katy sees hurricanes, derechos and winter storms, and the grid does not always keep up.
We install backup power tailored to your needs and budget — from a simple interlock kit that safely connects a portable generator, to an automatic transfer switch that starts a whole-home standby the moment the grid drops.
What's included
- Manual interlock kits and inlet boxes
- Portable generator hookups
- Manual and automatic transfer switches
- Whole-home standby generator wiring
- Critical-load sub-panels
- Power-loss consultation and sizing
What to expect
Three honest tiers
Interlock kit (lowest cost, you start the generator), manual transfer switch with a critical-load panel, or an automatic standby. We explain what each covers and costs.
Sized to what you actually need
Most families need the fridge, a few lights, internet, a window unit or the A/C condenser — not every circuit in the house.
Safe by design
Every setup we install makes it impossible to back-feed the grid, which protects line workers and your neighbors.
How the job goes
- Consultation. We start with a thorough look at your home’s electrical needs. You tell us what you want to accomplish; we map the path to get there and flag anything we see along the way.
- Planning. A written scope of work with a firm price. No surprises. We design a solution that fits your home and your budget, and explain the options when there is more than one.
- Execution. Our licensed electricians complete the work with care. Clean uniforms, clean workspaces, clean results — and someone who will explain what they are doing if you ask.
- Certification. Every project ends with a full test, the inspection where one is required, and documentation. Your electrical system, verified and ready for the future.
Questions we hear about generators
What is the cheapest way to run my house on a portable generator?
An interlock kit on your existing panel with an exterior inlet box. You plug the generator in, flip the interlock and choose which breakers to run.
Interlock kit or transfer switch?
An interlock uses your existing panel and costs less. A transfer switch with a critical-load panel is more foolproof. An automatic transfer switch is for standby generators that start themselves.
Do you install whole-home standby generators?
We handle all electrical work for standby generators — the transfer switch, wiring and permits — and coordinate with the gas and generator supplier.
Can a generator run my central A/C?
A standby generator sized for it, yes. A portable generator usually cannot start a central condenser, but a soft-start kit on the A/C can make it possible.
“After the last storm we had them put in an interlock kit and inlet so we can run the house on our portable generator. Explained it clearly, done in an afternoon.”
